House of Leaves, Part 2 (pp. 74-312)

The film “You Should Have Left” might be a good choice for those wanting to see a cinematic House of Leaves. At least, that’s how it’s viewed by those who choose to look at it that way. It’s not technically an official movie adaptation of the novel, but it has a lot of the same vibes. Apparently.

Let’s get together to discuss Part 2 of House of Leaves!

House of Leaves, Part 1 (pp. 1-73)

Soooooo apparently multi-genre musician Poe is the sister of this book’s author AND her album “Haunted” takes direct and indirect inspiration from the book to create a soundtrack of sorts to go along with it.

Cool! I decided to listen to the whole album before reading the book and am looking forward to seeing how that experience is different when I do it again after finishing the book.

Anyway: Let’s get together to discuss Part 1 of House of Leaves! Yes, this section is “only” to page 73 but that page count is deceptive, so…start reading sooner rather than later!

The Wise Man's Fear, Final Discussion

“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.”

These words could have saved me a LOT of money on therapy and self-improvement books, Wise Man John Lennon!

Let’s meet to discuss the rest of The Wise Man’s Fear!
